The starting point of this tour is the city of Brunico where you take the road to Bressanone in the valle Isarco. From here, you follow the road to S. Andrea which is characterised by numerous bends and is therefore often covered by motorcyclists. Furthermore, this itinerary also delights you with stunning panoramic views of Bressanone and the Valle Isarco. After S. Andrea, the road narrows and leads constantly uphill. Now you need to follow the signposts "Würzjoch, Passo delle Erbe". We recommend caution as the road narrows even more!
Take the road on the right to the Val di Funes and then the road to passo delle Erbe branching off on the left. This ascending road leads to passo Eores at 1,863 m a.s.l. and then to passo delle Erbe by running along a hilly section. The 2,003-m high mountain pass at approximately 28 km from Brunico, connects Bressanone in the Valle Isarco with San Martino in Badia. The panoramic view of the northern wall of the Sass da Putia and the surrounding mountains you enjoy from here is simply amazing. The passo delle Erbe is also an ideal starting point for hikes to Mt Sass da Putia.
After a rest at the mountain pass, proceed towards the Val Badia along an initially wide, panoramic road which narrows as it enters the Val Badia via S. Martino in Badia. From there, take the road to Longega and San Lorenzo di Sebato and then the road back to Brunico, the starting point of this tour, which branches off on the right.
Level of difficulty: moderate
Highest point: Passo delle Erbe
Please note: Passo delle Erbe is accessible also from the Val di Funes. However, the route described in this article, is definitely more impressive.
