Rock climbing walls

Climbing can be practised on numerous rock walls in Val Pusteria

Rock climbing walls are a valid alternative to climbing halls and are therefore particularly appreciated in the warm seasons.

Alta Pusteria:

Franchi-Val di Landro
Itinerary: drive from Dobbiaco to the Val di Landro, park at the car park Hotel Drei Zinnen
Access: cross the river behind the hotel
Routes: 5 routes up to grade 7b, 3 routes up to grade 8a


Valle di Rienza-Val di Landro
Itinerary: drive from Dobbiaco to the Valle di Landro and park at the car park of the hotel Drei Zinnen
Access: from the car park walk towards the Rifugio Locatelli until you reach the signpost of the climbing wall where a path on the left leads to the climbing wall (45 minutes)
Routes: 8 routes up to grade 5a, 4 routes up to grade 6a, 5 routes up to grade 6c, 4 routes up to grade 7b, 6 routes up to grade 8a


Landro-Valle di Landro
Itinerary: drive from Dobbiaco into the Valle di Landro and towards Cortina. After Lago di Landro you can leave your car at the car park on your left and then cross the street to arrive at the rock climbing wall on the right.
Access: cross the road.
Routes: 7 routes up to grade 5a, 8 routes to grade 6a, 15 routes up to grade 6c, 9 routes up to grade 7b, 7 routes up to grade 8a, 2 routes up to grade 8a


Monte Baranci-San Candido
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards San Candido and then towards Sesto. Proceed until the car park of the valley station of the skiing area.
Access: take the chair lift to Monte Baranci, at the mountain station continue along the path on the left to the "Wildbad". From here it is only a 2-minute walk to the rock climbing wall.
Routes: 3 routes up to 5a, 12 routes up to 6c, 3 routes up to 7b, 2 routes up to 8a


Val Campo di Dentro-Sesto
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to San Candido, then towards the valle di Sesto. Right before the village take the road towards the Val Campo di Dentro until you reach the car park.
Access: walk from the car park to Rifugio Tre Scarperi, from where a path on the right leads to the rock climbing wall.
Routes: 5 routes up to 5a, 2 routes up to 6a, 6 routes up to 6c, 4 routes up to 7b


Lake Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to Monguelfo into the Valle di Braies, to Lago di Braies, park at the paid car park.
Access: walk around the lake clockwise or counterclockwise from right until the signpost "climbing garden”
Routes: 4 routes up to grade 5a, 6 routes up to grade 6c, 3 routes up to 7b, 1 route up to 8a


Polentablock-Lago di Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards Monguelfo and then into the Valle di Braies until Lago di Braies, where you can park at the paid car park.
Access: after a 10-minute walk along the right shore of the lake you arrive at a picnic area. Having crossed a gravelled canal towpath on the right continue until the rock climbing wall.
Routes: 1 route up to grade 6c, 1 route up to grade 7b, 6 routes up to 8a


Hotel Lago di Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to Monguelfo and then towards the Valle di Braies. Proceed to Lago di Braies and leave your car at the paid car park.
Access: follow the forest path behind the hotel for some metres, then follow the blue arrows and turn left towards the climbing wall.
Routes: 2 routes up to 6a, 7 routes up to 6c, 8 routes up to 7b, 9 routes up to 8a


Ponticello-Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards Monguelfo and proceed until Braies and Prato Piazza. Leave your car at the car park in front of the "Brüggele" restaurant.
Access: walk until the first hairpin bend of the road to Prato Piazza. Cross the brook and continue until the climbing wall.
Routes: 3 routes up to grade 5a, 8 routes up to 6a, 5 routes up to 6c, 4 routes up to 7b


Kirchler-Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to Monguelfo and then to the Valle di Braies and leave your car at the extensive car park at about 100 metres before Prato Piazza. Please note: the road to Prato Piazza is open only until 10 am, after you can use a shuttle service passing every 30 min)
Access: walk along the Alta Via delle Dolomiti n° 3 for about one hour
Routes: 1 route up to 6a, 7 routes up to 6c, 9 routes up to 7b


Plätzwiese-Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to Monguelfo and to the Valle di Braies and leave your car at the car park approximately 100 metres before Prato Piazza. (Please note that the road to Prato Piazza is open until 10 am, afterwards you can use a shuttle service passing every 30 minutes)
Access: at the car park walk for 200 m, then turn left and follow the blue signposts to the path "Alta Via delle Dolomiti 3" which you follow for 45 minutes.
Routes: 2 routes up to 5a, 9 routes up to 6a, 13 routes up to 6c, 6 routes up to 7b, 1 route up to 8a


Boulder Schneastapfa-Braies
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to Monguelfo, then into the Valle di Braies and leave your car at the extensive car park about 100 metres before Prato Piazza (please note: the road to Prato Piazza is open only until 10 am, afterwards a shuttle service is available every 30 min)
Access: walk along the forest path until the "Hohe Gaisl" restaurant where you enter the forest to your left. Follow the path for about 35 minutes.
Boulder: 2 Boulder up to 5a, 2 boulder up to 6a, 7 boulder up to 6c, 6 Boulder up to 7b, 4 boulder up to 8a


Val Pusteria:

Loathna Kofel-San Lorenzo
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards San Lorenzo and right before the crossroads of the Val Badia turn right towards Castel Sonnenburg. Before the signpost of the village continue towards Campolino/Lothen and park your car on the left after 200 metres.
Access: at the car park, take the slightly descending path to the rock wall.
Routes: 2 routes up to 5a, 6 routes up to
6a, 10 routes up to 6c, 12 routes up to 7b, 1 route up to 8a


Gais - "Platten"
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards San Giorgio and after about 400 metres proceed towards Gais. Leave your car on the right side of the road.
Access: cross the road and take the forest road to the climbing wall.
Routes: 6 routes up to 5a, 10 routes up to 6a, 2 routes up to 6c


Neugoas-Gais
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to San Giorgio and continue to Gais after 400 metres.
Access: take the forest road behind the dam and follow it until the first hairpin bend where the steep ascent to the climbing wall starts.
Routes: 5 routes up to 5a, 3 routes up to 6a, 9 routes up to 6c, 9 routes up to 7b, 5 routes up to 8a, 1 route up to 8a


Drittlsond-Speikboden
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards Campo Tures and the Valle Aurina. Then, turn left at the small bridge at the valley station of Speikboden and park your car at the edge of the forest road.
Access: follow the forest path (signposted)
Routes: 1 route up to 5a, 8 routes up to 6a, 5 routes up to 6c, 3 routes up to 7b, 2 routes up to 8a


Tobl-Riva di Tures
Itinerary: drive from Brunico to the Valle Aurina and take the road to the industrial area before Molina di Tures. Continue until Riva di Tures. About 200 metres after the crossroads of Acereto turn towards Riva and park your car at the car park of the "Franziskusweg" path on the right.
Access: from the car park the rock wall is easily accessible. If you would like to access the bouldering area you need to walk along the road towards Molina di Tures for some metres and then take a forest path on the right. After a 5-minute walk you reach the bouldering area.
Routes: 3 routes up to 5a, 13 routes up to 6c, 8 routes up to 7b, 10 routes up to 8a


Heachnbichl-Riva di Tures
Itinerary: from Brunico into the Valle Aurina, in front of Molini di Tures turn into the industrial zone and towards Acereto. After 200 m turn off towards Riva di Tures, park along the Franziskusweg
Access: walk from the car park on the road towards Riva, turn right on a forest road. Past the "Tobl" boulders, follow the path to the rocks.
Routes: 1 route up to 6a, 5 routes up to 6c, 11 routes up to 7b, 15 routes up to 8a


Villa Santa Caterina-Brunico
Itinerary: drive from Brunico towards Teodone and Villa Santa Caterina. Turn right at the pond in the village centre and follow the road until a small football field where you can leave your car on the left.
Access: the path at the right of the car park leads directly to the climbing wall.
Routes: 10 routes up to 5a, 5 routes up to 6a, 8 routes up to 6c, 10 routes up to 7b, 7 routes up to 8a, 1 route up to 8a.
Boulders: 32 boulders up to 5a, 7 boulders up to 6a, 28 boulders up to 6c, 13 boulders up to 7b, 12 boulders up to 8a, 1 boulder up to 8a
