The Tre Cime Alpine Dairy in Dobbiaco offers interesting insights into cheesemaking
Image gallery: Tre Cime Alpine Dairy
In the Tre Cime Alpine Dairy South Tyrolean milk is transformed into exquisite South Tyrolean mountain cheese and other typical products. The origins of the dairy date back to 1882 when it started out as a dairy specialising in the production of milk, cream, butter and cheese. In the show dairy you can discover everything on cheese production, ripening and cheese types.
The small museum at the beginning of the exhibition itinerary retraces the history of cheese production and explains everything on the farmer's everyday life in the Alta Pusteria. Some films on cheese production are shown in the visitors' gallery where you can also watch cheese masters at work. The cheese then matures in the ripening chamber.
Once the ripening process is concluded visitors can taste the cheeses and purchase them at the shop. The exhibition path is suitable also for disabled persons and the guided tours are available in German, Italian and English language.
