The Olperl nature park at 2,000 m a.s.l. attracts numerous families with children every year. The Olperl nature park theme path starts in the immediate vicinity of the mountain station of the
Monte Elmo ski lifts. This 2,434 m high mountain in the Cresta Carnica is easily accessible from Sesto and Versciaco.
The 1.5 km long circular path (80 metres of difference in altitude) is suitable for prawns. After an hour's walk you arrive at Olperl's reign, a fictive, half-human and half-animal creature which scares humans with its whistles, as well as a friend of the wild animals living in the surroundings.
The path starts near malga Kinderalm, a wooden hut where goats, sheep, rabbits and chickens live. The 10 installations scattered around the entire route are dedicated to the animals living in the Alps. Even the highest barefoot trail of the Dolomites is part of Olperl's reign. This path lies at an altitude of 2,150 m a.s.l. and features several panoramic points providing stunning views of the nearby Sesto Dolomites. Once completed this itinerary (suitable for prawns) you can take a break at the Monte Elmo restaurant or extend your hike to the Gallo Cedrone hut, reachable in a 30-minute walk.
