The Val Pusteria spans two countries: the western part belongs to South Tyrol and thus to Italy, while the eastern part belongs to Austria. This unique geographical position is also reflected in the public holidays. While some celebrations like Christmas or Easter are observed similarly in both regions, there are also country-specific differences.

In South Tyrol, Italian public holidays apply. These include Liberation Day on 25 April and Republic Day on 2 June. In East Tyrol, on the other hand, Austrian holidays are celebrated, such as Corpus Christi and National Day on 26 October. Whit Monday, which falls 50 days after Easter, is a public holiday celebrated in both regions.
