The village of Valdaora di Sotto lies at an altitude of 1,024 m a.s.l. and has 760 inhabitants. The parish church of this hamlet houses a high altar by Michael Rasner, a famous artist from Bressanone. The picture at the centre of the central nave depicts the martyrdom of Saint Agnes.
Valdaora di Sotto is comfortably accessible with the Val Pusteria railway which stops in the proximity of the village. The municipality of Valdaora is also connected to the Val Pusteria cycle path leading through the centre. In winter you can have fun on the ski slopes of Plan de Corones: in fact, the hamlets of Valdaora di Sopra, Valdaora di Mezzo and Valdaora di Sotto are served by the skibus every 20 minutes. This service takes passengers to the valley station of the Plan de Corones ski lifts.
Tip: we recommend undertaking a walk to the so-called "Peststöckl", a wayside shrine along the path to Sorafurcia.
