Rasun di Sotto at the entrance to the Valle di Anterselva is located at an altitude of 1,030 m a.s.l. and has about 700 inhabitants. Thanks to its proximity to the Plan de Corones, which is only 3 km away from the village, Rasun di Sotto attracts both summer and winter sports enthusiasts all year round. The church consecrated to St. John was first mentioned in written documents around 1070 AD.
The church has acquired its current shape in 1822 and is characterised by late-Baroque elements. The Ansitz Goller, one of the most beautiful farms of South Tyrol is definitely worth a visit. This unique building is composed of a farmstead which is directly connected to the farmer's house. The castle ruin of Rasun Vecchia southeast of Rasun di Sotto dates back to the 12th century and served as the court seat of the county of Val Pusteria.
Rasun di Sotto is overlooked by the impressive peaks of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina group which characterise the head of the valley. We recommend undertaking a bike tour to the end of the valley, as well as a side trip to the stunning lago di Anterselva.
Tip: discover the villages of Rasun di Sotto and Rasun di Sopra during a walk along the path surrounding the two villages (Dorfrundweg Rasen) which delights everyone with amazing panoramic views of the nearby mountains.
