During your holidays in Rio Pusteria you should definitely visit the Chiusa di Rio Pusteria and cycle along the Val Pusteria cycle path
Rio Pusteria is the administrative centre of the eponymous municipality. It is situated at 777 m s.l.m. and has 1,000 inhabitants. In former times, the village and the Chiusa di Rio fortress in the east were an important strategic point and toll station. Today the fortress can be visited during a guided tour and hosts several open-air theatre performances.
Enjoy a cup of coffee in the mediaeval village of Rio Pusteria, have a refreshing swim at the swimming pool or walk along the "Stöckelvaterweg" path to Spinga. The hiking and skiing area Gitschberg-Jochtal is highly appreciated all year round.
Thanks to its altitude and well-maintained sports zone, the village often hosts Italian football clubs for their retreats.
