The starting point of today's hike is the paid car park near the lago di Dobbiaco at the entrance to the Val di Landro. From here we can already spot the impressive rock walls at the end of the valley, as well as the emerald green water of the lago di Dobbiaco. A nature path with 11 installations providing interesting information on the local flora and fauna in an interactive and playful way was set up in 2000 - a natural science lesson amidst nature.
We undertake this hike in an anticlockwise direction. Initially we walk past some refreshment points and continue hiking along a flat path until we reach a gravel beach where we stop for a break. The children have fun playing in the wonderful natural landscape. We proceed along well-maintained paths which can be easily managed with a baby carriage. Soon we arrive at a panoramic platform overlooking the lake from where we can observe resident waterbirds like mallards and dabchicks. In spring and autumn you can even admire rare migratory birds.
We cross one of the last wetlands of South Tyrol, first along a path then on wooden boardwalks and bridges slightly farer away from the lake. After a picnic we compete in the long jump against the wild animals living here at the next interactive installation. Then, the path approaches the lake again and we return to our starting point along the lakeshore. This wonderful hiking destination is particularly suitable for families!
