Description
Every year, top international runners test their strength at the Grossglockner UltraTrail. The race features mainly single trails, crossing the Alps through three federal states, seven valleys and six towns. 14 glaciers and 300 peaks form part of the mountain scenery at an altitude of over 3,000 metres.
There are four routes to choose from. The most challenging is the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail, which must be completed within 30 hours and runs around the Grossglockner. The start and finish are in Kaprun. Covering 110 kilometres with 6,500 metres of elevation gain, it requires great physical and mental endurance as well as plenty of alpine experience. The Osttirol Trail is 84 kilometres long and runs from Enzinger Boden to Kaprun, climbing 5,000 metres of elevation.
On the Grossglockner Trail, participants have a maximum of 16 hours to cover 57 kilometres and 3,500 metres of elevation gain from Kals am Grossglockner to Kaprun. The Weissee Gletscherwelt Trail must be completed within 12 hours, covering 37 kilometres and 1,500 metres of elevation gain from Enzinger Boden to Kaprun.
Children can join the Mini GGUT, which is split into two races (1 kilometre and 3.1 kilometres) for two different age groups.
