Nature path Lake Anterselva

This autumn walking tour leads us around the beautiful emerald green Lake Anterselva. Many information panels along the path describe the flora and fauna of the region.

Driving through the beautiful Valle Anterselva and passing the biathlon centre, we finally arrive at a parking space near the Tiroler Hütte, where we leave our car. We start our walking tour at the first information panel and decide to circle the lake clockwise. This nature path was opened in 2003 and informs very clearly about the flora and fauna of the region surrounding Lake Anterselva. We learn a lot about the forces of nature, the most important rocks and trees - this is a very interesting round tour both for children and adults.

At the beginning, the path leads along the lake shores. We walk on a very nice wooden pier over the water, watching some swans and the reflection of many yellow larches and the snow-capped Vedrette di Ries mountains in the lake. Soon the path leads us on several steps into the forest, where we can admire the emerald green lake from an other perspective. At the east end of Lake Anterselva we reach a restaurant with a big playing meadow and playing ground, where we decide to have a short rest.

After a nice cup of coffee we continue our tour, crossing the road to Passo Stalle and walking through the forest above the lake in the direction of our starting point, enjoying very beautiful views of Lake Anterselva. Unfortunately, some clouds block the view of the splendid Mount Collalto.

On several stations along the nature path not only children can learn a lot: What happens to nature when an avalanche occurs? Which fir cone belongs to which tree? Which fish are living in Lake Anterselva? What are the functions of a treetop? At Lake Anterselva you will get the right answers!

Please note: This is a very popular walking tour, especially on summer weekends, since the lake lies at 1,600 metres asl and provides some refreshment on hot days. However, we particularly consider this tour in autumn, when the golden trees and snow-capped mountain peaks reflect in the lake.
