Hay Bath

The South Tyrolean hay bath has been known for centuries for its healing and beneficial effects

It was the mountain farmers who realised some time ago that bathing in hay improves physical and mental well-being. Today, this knowledge is used in several hotels, also in the Val Pusteria valley.

The hay from untreated and unfertilised meadows is mown in the morning or evening to preserve the essential oils of various plants. The medicinal herbs such as arnica, thyme, gentian, lady's mantle and cinquefoil then unfold their effects in the hay bath.
This traditional wellness treatment stimulates the metabolism and has a draining, cell-activating and balancing effect. The body sweats and reacts positively to rheumatic complaints, arthrosis, stress and tension.
As the hay from the mountain meadows is not contaminated with dust, there are hardly any problems even for people suffering from allergies.

You can enjoy the traditional hay bath in the summer months, but thanks to the special preparation and storage of the hay, today it is also possible to enjoy its beneficial effects all year round.
