Ski tour along the AVS Path - Mt Plan de Corones

By car we drive to Riscone and park near the Steakhouse restaurant (approx. 910 m a.s.l.). Across the parking space we reach the Herrnegg slope, where we clip on our skis and follow the ski slope uphill. Another little parking space is located further to the north, starting from here the first 80 m in altitude can be saved. Today we are accompanied by lots of snowflakes.

Soon the well-signposted "AVS-Steig" turns to the right, in winter it is reserved for touring skiers. It proceeds through the wood until the top of Mt Plan de Corones and is a perfect option, because ski touring along the piste is forbidden! Some sections are quite steep. Below the cable car we climb up until the Sylvester slope which we cross (attention!) and reach the forest again. Just below the top we hike uphill on the right edge of the piste until we reach the highest point.

We can already hear the sound of the Peace Bell Concordia on the summit. On the top of Mt Plan de Corones various possibilities to enjoy a refreshment wait for us and even the sun comes out. After a delicious snack the Sylvester and Herrnegg slopes are available for our downhill run. We mix with the other skiers and drive down into the valley again.

Please note: the AVS Path is an ideal option for ski tours in not perfect weather. When crossing the slope please pay attention! The path must only be used by day, because the downhill run along the ski slopes is forbidden at night. Significant altitude difference, fitness is required! Average gradient: 23.4 %.
