Drava Cycle Path from San Candido to Lienz

The cycle path from San Candido to Lienz follows the course of the Drava river and is the continuation of the Pusterbike Cycle Path

The cycle path is well known therefore that it proceeds flatly from San Candido in South Tyrol (Italy) to Lienz in East Tyrol (Austria). Due to the fact that it can be managed without any efforts, it is well-suited for families. During the summer season the way back can comfortably be done by train (equipped for the transport of bicycles).

From San Candido the cycle path proceeds along byroads to Versciaco and Prato alla Drava and to the Italian-Austrian border. The Drava Cycle Path takes further to Sillian and past the Loacker waffle factory of Heinfels, along the Drava River southerly around the villages of Strassen and Abfaltersbach. By the way: near Sillian, located directly along the cycle path, there's also the Wichtel Adventure Park, an adventure for young and old.

Near Abfaltersbach the wide valley becomes a narrow gorge. The village of Mittewald and Thal-Aue are on our way before we reach the surroundings of Lienz. The Galitzenklamm Gorge with theme trail is also located along the cycle route.

Please note: from Lienz the Drava Cycle Path proceeds further towards Carinthia and Slovenia. For the way back to San Candido there is the possibility to carry the bicycle in special trains of the Austrian Railway ÖBB.
