The skiing area Monte Elmo is considered to be THE family-friendly skiing area in Alta Val Pusteria and also belongs to the ski centre Alta Val Pusteria. This area is accessible via panoramic cable car from Sesto as well as from Versciaco.
The ski runs have a total length of more than 20 km, with various degrees of difficulty. Included is the 4.8 km long Monte Elmo-Versciaco ski slope, which is the longest ski run in Alta Val Pusteria. This run has already been skiable when the skiing area started operating some 30 years ago. The new and spectacular slope “Rautpiste”, however, is 3,8 km long and takes winter sports fans to the Lärchenhütte refuge. This skiing area is also venue for many winter events, and for this reason Monte Elmo is also called the Event-Mountain.
For beginners Monte Elmo offers plain ski slopes that offer great conditions for those who would like to learn skiing. Another advantage of Monte Elmo is the view on the surrounding mountains of the Sesto Dolomites. And if you would like to see Monte Elmo from another perspective, you can try paragliding or hang-gliding, as Monte Elmo is also a popular starting point for those who love flying.
