In the heart of the Hohe Tauern national park, where nature is still intact, there is the skiing region Matreier Goldried. This skiing region in the upper Iseltal valley, including the localities of Matrei, Prägraten and Huben, is one of the most snow-sure areas in the Alps. This is also why the winter season is extraordinarily long and often lasts until mid April...
Those who booked an accomodation at Matrei do not have to worry about parking, as 2 ski lifts, a gondola lift and a chair lift are available, which take you to the skiing area. Those who arrive by car, however, can park at the valley station. Once arrived at the skiing area, there are 6 more ski lifts (2 chair lifts and 4 T-bar lifts) and more than 35 km ski runs with various difficulty degrees. A very special ski slope is the "Cimaross", the longest ski slope in East Tyrol, featuring a lenght of 12 km and an altitude difference of 1,400 m.
Of course there is also the childrens' club "Bobo", where your children can have fun while you enjoy skiing on groomed ski runs.
Several ski huts along the slopes provide dishes and drinks for every taste... Yum yum! :-) Stop at one of the characterisitc huts to regain your strenght and prepare yourself for the next ski slope while drinking a warm drink.
By the way: the gondola lift takes you to the top of the mountain within only 8 minutes!!!
