Climate in Val Pusteria
The Val Pusteria valley is a fascinating holiday destination the whole year round.
In April, the Val Pusteria starts re-awakening, but until Easter you can still fabulously enjoy skiing on the slopes of the skiing areas. Afterwards the snow starts melting and the meadows appear in a soft green, often covered by dandelions or other heralds of spring. The temperatures slowly start rising, but we highly recommend you to bring warm clothes anyway, as you are going to spend your holidays in the mountains.
Despite of the fact that the Val Pusteria is surrounded by a mountain scenery, in high summer the temperatures might sometimes even reach the 30-degree mark. Summer evenings are rather mild, but for an evening out we recommend you to take a light sweater, anyway. What is also highly recommendable is a refreshing and cooling jump into a lake or swimming pool after a mountain hike.
The golden autumn is a fascinating season in Val Pusteria, as the landscape appears in multi-faceted colours and the larch forests are golden, making walks and excursions a real pleasure. September and October are ideal months for walking, in November the weather is most often ideal for a retreat in one of the spas of the Val Pusteria valley.
In December, often already in November, winter knocks on the door and covers the mountains and the valleys with soft and white snowflakes. Winter sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, the slopes most often open at the beginning of December. The temperatures fall decisively under zero, especially at night. Wear some warm clothes and… go outside to discover nature!
