Cadipietra

The history of the village of Cadipietra is closely connected to mining in Predoi, which is illustrated by the mining museum Granaio di Cadipietra

Cadipietra is located at 1,054 m a.s.l. and is the chief village of the municipality of Aurina. Its name derives from the particularly large stone buildings. In the centre of the village, next to the parish church, there is the mining museum Granaio di Cadipietra: as former food storage of the mine of Predoi, since 2000 this museum has hosted a special collection of the Enzenberg family, comprising wood models, paintings, greeting cards, findings and documents of the 15th century.

However, not only from a cultural viewpoint, Cadipietra is worth visiting, but it also offers several possibilities for your leisure, not at least due to the fact that it has an hiking and skiing area to offer. The funicular of Klausberg takes you up in higher realms, where you can find several possibilities for hiking. One of the most popular and easy destinations is the Lago di Chiusa.

In winter the hiking arena transforms into an adventuresome skiing area, offering slopes from small to x-large. By the way, this area is considered to be extraordinarily snow-sure. For all those who prefer tobogganing, there is an illuminated slope. Sledges can be rent at the valley station.

Our tip: après ski in the so-called Hexenkessel (witches' kettle) at the valley station of the Klausberg skiing area.
