Campo di Tures has got almost 2,000 inhabitants and is the chief village of the homonymous municipality. Short called Tures, the village is located at 864 m asl and stretches in the Vedrette di Ries nature park. In Campo Tures, there is also one of the visitor’s centres of this protected area, which focuses on the topic „the borders of nature and the borders of people“.
A further attraction is Castel Tures, one of the most mighty and beautiful castle complexes of the province of South Tyrol. Up to the 13th century, the lords Herren von Taufers, among the most re-known aristocrats, used to live in this castle. Knigth’s festival, special exhibitions or ghost story telling for kids, the castle is venue for several events. Particularly worth seeing is the armoury, the court hall and… the prison. Neumelands castle is another historic building of Campo di Tures, which unfortunately cannot be visited inside.
Also nature has an important role to play in in Campo Tures: a visit of the Riva waterfalls is an abolute must-do in summer and it can perfectly be combined with a walk from the centre. Ideal for a hot summer day.
A new leisure facility has just opened its gates in Campo Tures, the so-called Cascade, which is a combination of „sauna“, „gusto“, „relax“, „acqua“ and „nature“. A facility that focuses on your well-being, the whole year round.
In winter you can easily reach the skiing areas in the surroundings, that is to say Klausberg and Speikboden, two family-skiing areas. Also the Plan de Corones is only a short distance away. And a visit of the Christmas Market of Brunico is of course also a must in Christmas time. Artistic markets, cheese festivals, the “Tauferer Strassenküche“, which is a summer event that provides music and gastronomic treats, there is something for every taste in Campo di Tures.
