Now it is official, the Dolomites have been declared a Natural World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Committee of the UNESCO at the 33th conference staged in Sevilla in Spain. The Dolomites are entirely located in Italian territory, strictly speaking in the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino, Belluno, Pordenone and Udine.
The Dolomites comprise nine mountain chains, six of which belong to the province of South Tyrol. Also Val Pusteria is characterised by the Dolomite mountains, also called “Pale Mountains”. Val Pusteria is a perfect starting point for hikes across the mountain ranges Dolomiti di Sesto and Fanes - Senes - Braies. Explore these mountains, demonstrating respect for nature and environment. Congratulations, Dolomites!
