Cross-country ski centres

The modern cross-county ski centres in the Val Pusteria do not leave anything to be desired. Many runs of various difficulty levels guarantee pure cross-country skiing pleasure

Cross-country skiing is a holistic winter sport that exercises the whole body, but mainly arms, shoulders, legs, abdominal and back muscles. It can be done by everybody, regardless of age, and also has a lot of other advantages … If you would like to try cross-country skiing for the first time, the Val Pusteria also offers lessons for beginners.

The Riva di Tures cross-country ski centre offers perfect cross-country skiing conditions on 15 km of both classic style and skate runs. The difficulty levels on the Riva di Tures circuit range from easy to difficult. Certified instructors offer cross-country skiing lessons both for beginners and experts. Moreover, there is a ski rental in the centre of the village. The cross-country ski circuits of Riva di Tures are located on a height between 1,536 and 1,591 metres a.s.l.

The Alta Badia - Armentarola cross-country ski centre in the locality Sarè/Armentarola near San Cassiano comprises 27 kilometres of runs at the foot of the mountains Conturines, Lavarella and Settsass. It offers a ski school, a ski rental, public toilets, changing rooms, restaurant and bar. Its various runs of different difficulty levels are Sass Dlacia, Sarè, Pinais, Pre de Costa, Störes and Conturines (the latter two are competition runs), and there is also a practice run for beginners.

The Nordic Arena Dobbiaco in the new part of the village has been recently opened and offers information points, public toilets, changing rooms, a medical station, a fitness room, a restaurant, a bar and a ski rental, which in summer is transformed into a bike rental. This Nordic ski stadium hosts some international competitions and is the starting point of many cross-country ski runs leading into the surrounding landscape of Dobbiaco: the Upper Val Pusteria counts more than 120 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski runs.

The cross-country and biathlon centre Anterselva does not leave anything to be desired either. It offers both easy and challenging cross-country ski runs, like for example the valley bottom run, which starts at Lake Anterselva and leads through the wonderful unspoiled nature until the entrance of the valley. The centre also offers a ski rental, a ski service, restaurants and a ski school where you can take cross-country and biathlon lessons. The near Passo Stalle is the starting point of the 8 km long high altitude run on a medium altitude of 2,000 m a.s.l.
